Unlike traditional orthodontics, there are no wires or brackets involved with Invisalign®. Simply slip the aligners onto the teeth and take them out to eat, drink and brush your teeth.
You will need to replace your new set of aligners every 7-14 days. The aligners will gradually move your teeth into their final prescribed position.
To start your journey to a new, straighter, brighter smile, simply book your Invisalign consultation with one of friendly, professional Invisalign team members.
We offer telephone, video and face to face consultations to suit you.
Once you have had your Invisalign consultation, we can arrange for you to have a FREE Invisalign smile simulation. This can also be done at your face to face consultation appointment.
On the day of your appointment, we will create your FREE smile simulation using our state of the art iTero 3D imaging scanner and we will also take some clinical photographs. This procedure is completely non-invasive and pain free.
You will be able to see the results of your scan within just a few minutes. This will show you how your new smile could look and you will then be given access to these scans to help you consider if you would like to go ahead with treatment.
We will then explain how Invisalign® treatment works and give you a guide to timescales and costs. A bespoke PDF treatment plan will then be emailed to you with all the information you should require.
Once you have decided to start your Invisalign journey, your orthodontist will review your Invisalign records to re-check your suitability for treatment and if necessary, recommend any pre treatment work (for example, we may recommend that you visit the hygienist for a thorough clean of your mouth before starting your teeth straightening). A panoramic dental x-ray will also be taken to check the root lengths of your teeth and your bone levels.
Invisalign will then create a bespoke treatment plan called a ClinCheck. This is a short 3D simulation that allows you to see your predicted Invisalign treatment result before you even begin the Invisalign process. The ClinCheck provides you with the ability to see each movement your teeth will go through and give you a step by step view of your Invisalign journey. Once you have approved your ClinCheck we will submit to Invisalign and then the process of manufacturing your aligners begins. Your aligners will then be shipped to the practice ready to be fitted, this usually takes 10-14 days.
Once your Invisalign® aligners have been delivered to the practice, we will get back in touch to arrange an appointment to fit your aligners and explain what you need to know as your teeth straightening begins.
You will be provided with a series of Invisalign® aligners to fit as instructed. You will be able to do this at home but we will track your movements with our very high tech Dental Monitoring system. This allows us to track your progress remotely and allows you to contact us with any queries you may have.
Invisalign® clear aligners are a virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth and achieve the smile you’ve always dreamed of. Using advanced 3D computer-imaging technology, we can plan your complete Invisalign treatment based on your dentist’s prescription, from the initial position of your teeth to the final desired position.
Then a series of Invisalign® clear aligners are custom made for your teeth to move them little by little. Each aligner is worn for 1-2 weeks before being replaced by the next in the series, gradually moving towards the projected final position. Your Invisalign® treatment time will be determined by your dentist, based on your specific needs.
Invisalign® clear aligners are nearly invisible. No one may even notice that you’re wearing the aligners, making Invisalign treatment a seamless fit with your lifestyle and day-to-day interactions with others.
Invisalign® clear aligners are removable, giving you the flexibility to eat and drink what you want during treatment. You can also remove the aligners to brush and floss as you normally would for fresh breath and to maintain good oral hygiene.
Unlike traditional fixed dental braces, there are no metal brackets or wires. This means that in most cases, less time is spent at the dentist for adjustments.
Advanced 3D computer-imaging technology allows you to view your virtual results (ask about our FREE smile simulation) and receive a detailed treatment plan so you can see how your teeth are expected to look when your treatment is complete.
Dentists and orthodontists have successfully used removable appliances for years. However, with the application of Align Technology’s 3D computer technology and aligner customisation, Invisalign clear aligners can be used to treat a wide range of patients who want straighter teeth.
As with other types of orthodontic treatment, the cost of Invisalign® clear aligners is dependent upon the complexity of your teeth straightening and your course of treatment.
In simple terms, the more complex your teeth straightening, the more Invisalign aligners are needed to achieve your best smile. Conversely, the less complex the straightening, the less Invisalign aligners are needed. Consequently, based on the number of Invisalign® aligners your dentist prescribes, the price increases or decreases accordingly.
On this basis, only an accredited Invisalign provider is able to determine your cost.
Invisalign® clear aligners move teeth with an appropriate placement of controlled movement on the teeth. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign treatment not only controls the amount of movement per aligner, but also the timing of the movement. So at each stage, only certain teeth are allowed to move, as per the treatment plan for that particular stage. This results in an efficient force delivery system that moves teeth into the desired prescribed position.
Invisalign appointment intervals are generally the same as with traditional braces but can be much quicker with less time spent in the dental chair during appointments as no adjustments need to be made to wires/brackets.
At Monkmoor Dental, included in our Invisalign packages, we offer Dental Monitoring, this allows us to track your progress remotely, resulting in less appointments at the practice.
We do however advise still seeing your regular dentist for routine check up appointments.
The total duration of treatment depends on the complexity of the treatment and is generally comparable to that of traditional braces. Typically treatment can last between 6 and 18 months.
Both options are viable, however Invisalign tailors better to your lifestyle. You’re able to eat and drink what you like and with our Dental Monitoring system included with your Invisalign package, this allows us to track your movements at home meaning less time in the dental chair.
Your orthodontist should be able to answer this question following your consultation. An orthodontist trained in fixed braces and use of aligner technology should be able to offer you several options. However some orthodontic problems are treated more quickly or efficiently with a particular type of appliance.
Some people may experience temporary, minor discomfort for a few days, at the beginning of each new stage of treatment when they insert a new Invisalign aligner. This is normal and is typically described as a feeling of pressure. It is a sign that the aligners are working – moving your teeth gradually, helping you to achieve the final results. This discomfort typically goes away in a couple of days.
